Digital Divide has traditionally been about access to the internet, either due to cost of hardware, reach of data services, or minimum skills required to use applications. With smartphone penetration, these constraints are disappearing fast. The constraint is now unavailability of vernacular content. Other than entertainment, 95% of the web content is in English.
Language is the new Digital Divide. Lack of vernacular content is holding back access to education, commerce, services and egovernance for a majority of Indians.
